Therapeutic exercise
Therapeutic exercise is one of the most important and scientifically-proven most effective interventions used by physiotherapists. To put it simply, therapeutic exercise is exercise that has specific physical benefits. You do these exercises yourself.
Therapeutic exercise serves primarily to mobilise and stabilise joints and strengthen muscles. Physiotherapists prescribe these exercises to teach healthy movement patterns and reduce physical symptoms, or to stabilise or slow down the progression of a condition. Examples include exercises to prepare for surgery and exercises to treat chronic conditions such as COPD and Parkinson’s disease.
You may be asked to perform these exercises during the treatment session. The physiotherapist may also give you exercises to do as homework.
There are numerous exercises for every physical condition. The physiotherapist will create an exercise programme that is individually tailored to your condition or injury and personal goals.
At High Five we use Physitrack to support therapeutic exercise between sessions
Therapeutic exercise can be supervised by a physiotherapist or performed at home and/or in a gym or sports complex. Therapeutic exercise is curative in treating symptoms and also helps prevents symptoms.
All our practices are set up in large and well-designed fitness facilities equipped with an extensive range of professional (fitness) machines and equipment. This enables us to guarantee that you will receive the most effective treatment possible.
